This is a black dial and bar index model of the "Old Navitimer" manufactured between 1995 and 2002.
The "Navitimer," the predecessor to the "Old Navitimer," was temporarily discontinued in the 1970s due to the rise of quartz watches, but was revived in 1985 as the "Old Navitimer" by former Breitling president Ernest Schneider.
Although there were changes such as the arrangement of the sub-dials, it retains the atmosphere of the classic Navitimer and remains very popular.
When it was first released in 1985, it was a hand-wound model, but it was changed to an automatic movement the following year.
Furthermore, in 1992, the domed crystal was changed to sapphire crystal, and 3 ATM water resistance was added.
Improvements continued, such as changing the indexes from beige to silver and adding the "B" logo at the base of the chronograph second hand, and this model was manufactured until 2002.
This particular piece, with its silver bar indexes and the sub-dial numbers printed in 6 divisions (from 1995 onwards), was produced between 1995 and 2002.
The black dial with a sunray finish has a glossy silver print for the tachymeter and other markings, and the appearance changes depending on how the light hits it.
The case and bracelet have a full mirror finish, giving them a glamorous impression.
The crown has a diameter of approximately 6.6mm, making it easy to grip and operate with your fingers.
Pulling the crown out one click activates the hacking seconds function, and the chronograph also stops, making it highly practical.
The Old Navitimer was reissued in a limited edition in Japan in 2014, making it an increasingly popular model.
It is recommended for those looking for a classic masterpiece or a smaller Navitimer than the current 46mm or 43mm models.
How to Operate
Manual winding: Rotate the crown upwards in its normal position
Time setting: Pull the crown out two clicks and rotate it downwards (the second hand stops when pulled out two clicks)
Quick date change: Pull the crown out one click and rotate it upwards
While the quick date change function is convenient, performing the quick change operation when the watch indicates "9 PM to 2 AM" can cause damage to the gears.
It is recommended to set the time to around 6 o'clock before performing a quick date change.
(This caution applies to all watches with a calendar function)
Condition
This watch has been overhauled and polished by our store and is ready for immediate use.
There is some discoloration on the silver parts of the dial and fine scratches across the entire crystal.
Overall, it is in beautiful condition with no noticeable scratches.
The rotating bezel is bi-directional. It moves smoothly.
The bracelet is genuine Breitling.
The crown and push-buttons are not screw-down, so the original water resistance is not high.
Please use with care to avoid water exposure.
