This is Grand Seiko's second model, the highest quality domestic watch.
The second Grand Seiko model began production in 1964, four years after the first model.
Compared to the first model, a date display (with quick-set function) was added.
It features a screw-down case back on the case rear, achieving 50m water resistance (at the time of manufacture).
The case material is stainless steel, improving practicality.
The lugs are designed to be thicker, improving durability and giving it a strong presence.
This particular unit is an early model featuring a 'lion medallion' on the case back, making it rare with a small production run even among second models.
The dial is an early type, with "Grand Seiko Diashock 35 jewels" printed at the 6 o'clock position (later models changed to the GS logo).
The mirror-finished, multi-faceted hour and minute hands and indexes emit an elegant gleam.
The movement is the hand-wound 'Cal.5722A'.
The crown has a large diameter of 5.5mm and is easy to grip, making it recommended even for those new to hand-wound watches.
How to operate Caliber 5722A
Manual winding: Rotate the crown upwards in the normal position
Time setting: Pull the crown out two clicks and rotate downwards
The second hand stops
Date quick-set: Pull the crown out one click and rotate downwards
Performing quick-set operations when the watch is between '9 PM and 2 AM' will cause a malfunction.
It is recommended to set the time to around 6 o'clock before performing quick-set.
Condition
This item has been overhauled and the exterior polished at our store.
The leather strap has been replaced with a new Seiko one, so you can use it comfortably.
The crystal has minor scratches that could not be removed by polishing.
The crown is original, with the W SEIKO logo.
There is a slight bend in the crown head, and manual winding is a little stiff.
Many second model crowns are worn or have been replaced with different crowns, but this one retains its original "W SEIKO" crown.
The engraving on the back remains.
The gold medallion is in good condition with no noticeable damage.
Although the dial has some patina, it is in overall clean condition with no noticeable scratches or dirt.
Due to its age, it is not water-resistant.
Please avoid wearing it on rainy days or hot days.
Please also be careful of impacts and magnetic fields.
