Longines 1967 Vintage Watch Ref. 7839-4
This is a Longines hand-wound wristwatch, Ref. 7839-4, manufactured in 1967. It is a three-hand, non-date model featuring a slim round case and a robust screw-down case back. For a thin hand-wound Longines model from this era, the screw-down back is a very rare configuration.
The crystal and dial feature a gentle curvature, creating expressive shadows depending on the way light hits them. The dial has a beautiful sunburst finish, which catches the light delicately from different angles. At the 12 o'clock position, the "LONGINES" text and the brand's iconic "winged hourglass" logo are printed.
At its heart is the Cal. 284, a masterpiece hand-wound movement designed and manufactured in-house by Longines. This movement features an eccentric screw fine adjustment device for the balance wheel, reflecting the technical prowess of Longines' golden era in pursuit of high precision. It also features exquisite finishing, such as gold chatons holding the jewels in place, showcasing the craftsmanship of the time.
The crown is an original part featuring the "LONGINES" engraving and the "winged hourglass" logo, preserving its originality down to the smallest detail.
Furthermore, it comes with its original Longines box from the time of manufacture. As a testament to the watch having been carefully passed down through time, this adds even more rarity and value.
This is truly a masterpiece, condensing the sophisticated design and intricate technology of the Swiss watch industry's most brilliant era before the Quartz Crisis.
Instructions for use
Hand-winding: With the crown in the normal position, rotate clockwise.
To wind the mainspring, please turn the crown clockwise slowly and carefully.
The winding will feel light at the beginning, but will become heavier as it reaches full tension.
Please be careful not to force the crown once you feel resistance, as this can break the mainspring.
Pulling the crown: Insert a fingernail between the case and the crown to pull it out gently.
To prevent the crown stem from bending, please remove the watch from your wrist before operating it.
Handling it gently reduces strain on the crown.
Setting the time: Pull the crown and rotate counter-clockwise.
