商品説明
We are pleased to introduce a masterpiece that has left its mark on the history of Japanese watchmaking: the Grand Seiko Second Model (57GS).
This particular piece is an early version of the second model, featuring the "Lion Medallion" on the case back.
The combination of the "Chronometer" inscription and the lion medallion, which is absent in later versions, makes this a rare configuration with a short production period and limited surviving numbers.
The dial utilizes the AD (Applied Dial) specification, which emphasizes the brilliance of the indices. The sharply faceted, applied indices and dauphine hands capture and reflect light in detail, boasting the peak level of legibility achieved by Japanese watches in the 1960s.
You can fully enjoy the unique details of this early model, which maintains the elegance of the "Chronometer" inscription that has continued since the very first model, while further enhancing its functional perfection.
The case retains the "thick, powerful lugs" that are synonymous with the 57GS. Although the exterior has been finished, the substantial presence unique to this model has been firmly preserved.
Condition
This watch has been overhauled and the exterior has been finished.
The crown is the original version featuring the "W SEIKO" logo. While this part is often lost due to wear or replacement, it remains in its original state. Manual winding, time setting, and the hacking function (second-hand stop) all operate smoothly.
The dial shows soft signs of aging characteristic of vintage pieces, but it is in a very clear condition with no noticeable damage. The lion medallion on the back is in good condition, with only minor scuffs from age and no significant deterioration.
For the strap, we have carefully selected a 5.4mm thick model from Seiko's current lineup to match the thick case characteristic of the 57GS. The voluminous embossed cowhide strap harmonizes perfectly with the powerful lug design.
*As this is an antique watch, it is not waterproof. Please be careful to avoid rain, high temperature and humidity environments, magnetism, and impacts.
Operation
Manual winding: Rotate upward in the normal crown position
Time setting: Rotate downward with the crown pulled out to the second click (includes hacking function)
Date quick-set: Rotate downward with the crown pulled out to the first click
Operating the quick-set function while the watch hands are between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM may put strain on the calendar mechanism and cause a malfunction. For safety, we recommend setting the time to around 6:00 before operating this feature.
