商品説明
This is a hand-wound watch from the "Royal Orient" line, which debuted in 1959 as Orient's flagship model.
Developed with the goal of becoming the finest domestically produced timepiece of its time, this model boasts a sophisticated, streamlined design and a high level of perfection with meticulous attention to detail. It is a piece from Orient's golden age that exudes a classic sense of dignity.
The case features the "Shower proof" specification, which was introduced in 1961. At the time, it was announced as a next-generation case with water resistance second only to the "Swimmer."
Among vintage Orient watches, specimens with this "Shower proof" engraving are relatively rare and highly collectible.
Particularly noteworthy is its clean, uncompromising case form. The straight lines extending from the flat, vertical bezel to the sharp lugs embody the stoic functional beauty of a dress watch. The soft glow of the gold plating is accented by the snap-back stainless steel case back, creating an elegant composition characteristic of high-end watches of that era.
The dial features a delicate sunray finish, creating beautiful shadows as light spreads from the center.
The three-dimensional, four-sided cut bar indices glisten by reflecting light, showcasing the elaborate craftsmanship and dedication of the time. The balance with the slim hands is exquisite, achieving both high legibility and elegance.
The crown is a rare original part from that period, with the "ORIENT" engraving still visible on the surface.
The hand-winding action is smooth, offering a pleasant tactile feel as you wind the mainspring.
Condition
This watch has been overhauled.
The strap has been replaced with a brand new one from Morellato (cowhide), so it is ready to wear as soon as it arrives.
※Due to its vintage nature, this watch is currently non-waterproof.
Please avoid use on rainy days, while washing your face, or in situations where you may sweat. As this is a precision instrument, please be careful to avoid drops, strong impacts, and magnetic fields (from smartphones, PCs, bag magnets, etc.).
How to operate
Hand-winding: With the crown pushed in, rotate it clockwise (upwards). As the mainspring winds, the crown will gradually become stiffer until you reach the "stopping point" where it cannot be wound further. Forcing it beyond this point may cause the mainspring to snap, so please stop winding slowly once you feel resistance.
Setting the time: Pull the crown outward and rotate it. As this is a vintage timepiece, it is not equipped with a second-hand stop (hacking) function.
