This is a 1960s Waltham De Luxe.
Waltham is the oldest watch brand in America, famous for its pocket watches.
Established around 1850, the company began using the name Waltham in its corporate title around 1885.
In 1957, it ceased production in the United States and relocated its headquarters to Switzerland.
The warm, ivory-toned dial is accented with wedge-shaped indices, emblematic of the 1950s and 60s.
At the 12 o'clock position sits a three-dimensional Waltham "W" emblem, with the words "DE LUXE"—the mark of the brand's high-end line at the time—proudly printed just below.
The case features 14K gold-filled construction, which provides a deeper, more refined luster characteristic of vintage watches thanks to a gold layer thicker than that of gold-plated (GP) alternatives.
The beauty of the movement is particularly noteworthy. It houses a high-grade, 23-jewel, red-gold-plated movement based on a Swiss masterpiece ebauche. It features an "ADJUSTED" engraving, indicating it has been precision-tuned, making this piece a testament to Waltham's dedication to quality during that era.
Condition
This watch has been overhauled.
While the case shows minor scratches consistent with its age, there is no peeling of the 14K gold fill, and it remains in excellent condition.
It comes fitted with a brand-new leather strap so that you can wear it with comfort.
As this is a vintage watch, it is not waterproof. Please avoid using it in environments with moisture (such as on rainy days, while washing your face, or on hot, sweaty days).
Additionally, as this is a precision instrument, please be careful to avoid strong impacts from drops and keep it away from magnetic sources (such as smartphones, PCs, speakers, and magnetic handbag clasps).
Operation
Manual Winding: Turn clockwise while the crown is in the standard position.
How to Pull the Crown: Insert a fingernail between the case and the crown and gently pull it out.
Pulling the crown too forcefully may cause it to come out entirely; please pull it out gently.
To prevent bending the crown, please remove the watch from your wrist before operating it.
Handling the crown gently will help reduce strain on the mechanism.
Time Adjustment: Pull out the crown and turn counter-clockwise.
