商品説明
This is the King Seiko second model with date display, released in 1965.
The King Seiko is a series positioned as one of Seiko's top-tier watches, alongside Seiko's premium model, the Grand Seiko, and was manufactured until the 1970s.
The second model features a hacking function (second hand stop device), which was omitted in the first model.
By adopting a screw-back case on the back, practicality was improved (for stainless steel models only).
This particular piece is the early model of the 4402-8000.
It features a rare "shield medallion" on the case back (later models feature a SEIKO medallion instead).
The crown also retains the "SW" engraving, which was typical of the design at the time.
While the second model non-date "44-9990" and "49999" have a robust construction with thick lugs, this date model "4402-8000" features an elegant design with slender lugs.
Its modern appearance remains appealing even after half a century, showing no signs of age.
The dial features a fine sunray finish. Over time, it has developed a pale champagne gold hue, creating a very atmospheric piece with the soft elegance unique to vintage watches.
It is equipped with the "Cal.4402A" movement.
It features a hacking function (second hand stop function) and a calendar function (with quick-set feature).
This is a recommended watch for those looking for a practical hand-wound vintage watch.
Condition
This watch has been overhauled and the exterior has been polished.
The strap has been replaced with a new genuine Seiko strap (cowhide), so you can enjoy using it comfortably immediately after purchase.
The crystal has some minor scratches that could not be completely removed by polishing, but they do not impair the legibility of the dial.
There is a small smudge near the 10 o'clock index on the dial, and some age-related deterioration on the medallion on the case back, but these are within the range that does not detract from the vintage aesthetic.
The crown is original and operates smoothly.
As this is an old watch, it is not waterproof. Use in wet environments (e.g., on rainy days, when washing your face, or wearing on hot, sweaty days) is strictly prohibited.
Also, as it is a precision instrument, please be careful of strong impacts such as dropping, and magnetic fields (e.g., smartphones, PCs, speakers, magnets in bags).
How to Operate
Manual Winding: Rotate the crown clockwise in the normal position
When winding the mainspring, rotate the crown slowly and gently in an upward direction.
At the beginning of winding, the crown may feel light when rotated, but it will gradually become heavier as it winds up.
For hand-wound watches, forcing the winding when it's fully wound can break the mainspring. Please be careful to stop once it becomes heavy.
Time Setting: Pull the crown out two clicks and rotate counter-clockwise
When pulled out two clicks, the second hand will stop.
Date Quick-Set: Pull the crown out one click and rotate counter-clockwise
Operating the quick-set when the watch hands are between "9 PM and 3 AM" can cause damage.
When quick-setting, it is recommended to first set the time to around 6 AM.
