1972 (Showa 47) 56 King Seiko Hi-Beat CAP GOLD Specification
In the 1970s, the "King Seiko" stood at the pinnacle of Japanese wristwatches, alongside Seiko's highest-grade model, the "Grand Seiko." This item is a "56KS" manufactured in 1972, renowned as the series' first automatic hi-beat model. **The cap gold specification for this "5625-7110" is an extremely rare variation, with very few surviving examples.** It possesses an overwhelming presence that distinguishes it from stainless steel models, making it a suitable choice for those seeking a truly special timepiece. This particular piece has been **overhauled**, and the day/date quick-set operation, which is often a concern with the 56 series movement, **functions normally**, maintaining excellent condition.A major appeal of this model lies in its **"Cap Gold" (CAP GOLD) case specification, a feature made possible in an era when no expense was spared on time and cost.** This is a luxurious technique that sets it apart from modern plating (PVD). Since thick gold plates are overlaid on the base metal, it retains its deep luster even after half a century. Its color tone has a gentle and subdued texture that is **difficult to reproduce in modern watches**, lending a distinguished antique atmosphere to the wrist.
The case design features a **one-piece structure "5625-7110"** with lugs that have a flowing line. The integrated case without a case back was a crystallization of functional beauty that boasted high airtightness at the time. Coupled with the splendor of cap gold, it exudes the elegance characteristic of Japanese vintage watches. The crown retains the valuable **"KS" engraving** from that era. Although wear from years of use is visible, it has intentionally not been replaced, preserving the originality of the time.
Regarding the exterior, **the entire dial has undergone a beautiful color change (aging) to a champagne gold over time, which is a unique charm of this particular piece.** Although there is some peeling of the surface layer at the 12 o'clock position, there is no loss of the text itself, maintaining an antique feel. The glass is very clean with high visibility. While the case and crown show some scuffs and signs of use commensurate with age, excessive finishing has been intentionally avoided to preserve the character that tells the history of the watch. The strap is a **new leather strap** of good quality. You can comfortably use it immediately after delivery.
As this is an old watch, it is **not waterproof**. Strictly avoid using it in environments with a lot of moisture. **As it is a precision instrument, please be careful not to drop it or subject it to strong impacts.** Also, please keep it away from strong magnetic sources such as smartphones, PCs, or bag clasps with magnets. You can actually see and try on the watch at our store in Osaka. We recommend this **unique piece** to those who will cherish it and fully appreciate the charm of simple and elegant Japanese vintage watches.
