商品説明
This is a 1966 Lord Marvel (low-beat/with hacking seconds) model in a stainless steel case.
The Lord Marvel is a manual-winding luxury wristwatch that was manufactured for approximately 20 years from the late 1950s.
It was positioned between the 'Grand Seiko' and 'Crown Special'.
This is a late model of the Lord Marvel low-beat movement (Cal.5740A, 5740B).
The case back is a screw-back type, which is rare for low-beat Lord Marvel models.
The case back retains deep and clear engravings of "WATER PROOF" and a seahorse, showcasing an improved water resistance for its time of release. Pieces with the seahorse engraving, which is prone to fading due to wear, still clearly visible are becoming very rare in recent years.
The installed movement is the "Caliber 5740A" with hacking seconds.
Befitting a high-end model, the movement is engraved with a serial number.
The dial features a sunray finish, with an applied SEIKO logo, a cursive Lord Marvel logo, and bar indices, creating a simple yet elegant design.
The entire dial has aged to a beautiful champagne gold, exuding a superb vintage charm not found in modern watches.
This watch is recommended for those looking for a dressy vintage wristwatch with a unique and profound character.
Condition
This watch has been overhauled.
The strap has been replaced with a new Seiko genuine cowhide strap, ready for comfortable use.
【Dial/Hands】The entire dial has discolored with age, resembling champagne gold. There is a dark discoloration (stain/fading) in the center of the dial, a hairline scratch near the 2 o'clock edge due to age, and tiny dot-like blemishes near other indices. The hands show age-appropriate dullness. While these details contribute to the aged charm unique to vintage watches, please refer to the detailed images for confirmation.
【Case/Case Back】There are minor scratches from use and a dot-like scratch on the bottom left lug, but no excessive polishing that would compromise the original proportions. The seahorse engraving on the case back remains clear.
【Crystal】There are minor scratches that could not be removed by polishing, but time readability is good.
As this is an old watch, it is not waterproof. Strict caution should be exercised to avoid use in humid environments (e.g., rainy days, during face washing, wearing on hot, sweaty days).
Additionally, as it is a precision instrument, please be very careful to avoid strong impacts such as drops, and magnetic fields (e.g., smartphones, PCs, speakers, bag magnets).
How to operate Caliber 5740A
Manual Winding: Turn the crown upwards in its normal position.
It's easier if you pinch the crown between your index finger and thumb and slide it.
How to pull the crown: Gently pull the crown by inserting a fingernail between the case and the crown.
Pulling the crown too forcefully may cause it to detach. Please pull gently.
To prevent the crown from bending, remove the watch from your wrist before operating.
Gentle operation reduces stress on the crown.
Time Setting: Pull the crown and turn it downwards.
The second hand will stop.
