商品説明

This is a 1961 Seiko Crown Special 14K gold-filled model.

The Crown Special is a model developed based on the first Grand Seiko model and released as a high-end watch for the general public.
At the time, the Grand Seiko First was priced at 25,000 yen, while the gold-filled Crown Special was 10,000 yen.
While there are differences in design and movement specifications, it can be called a masterpiece that excels in its balance of product grade and retail price.

The dial features a vertical hairline finish, creating beautiful shading that emerges depending on the angle of the light.
It is a high-grade specification known as an "SD Dial" (Special Dial), in which the indices are crafted from solid 18K or 14K gold.
The sun-like mark at the 6 o'clock position denotes the SD dial, and its elegant luster remains intact today.
The watch features powerful dauphine hands, giving it a strong presence.

The case and case back are 14K gold-filled (80 microns), which was a high-end specification at the time.
Because it is covered in a gold layer much thicker than standard gold plating, it is resistant to peeling and retains the elegant, understated glow unique to 14K gold that is never gaudy.

The movement equipped is the Cal. 341.
Compared to the Grand Seiko First, the movement's finish and the type of regulator differ, but it is also equipped with a second-hand stop (hacking) function.

Recommended for those looking for an elegant vintage watch.

Condition

This watch has been overhauled and the exterior has been polished.

While there are fine scratches on the crystal that could not be removed by polishing, the dial visibility is excellent.

The strap has been replaced with a brand new genuine Seiko cowhide strap, so you can wear it with comfort.

The crown operates smoothly.

In addition to age-related discoloration on the dial, there are minor scratches on the "Crown" logo at the 12 o'clock position and a faint, slight indentation just below the "Special" print. These can be confirmed in the enlarged images, but during daily use with the naked eye, they blend in with the shimmer of the dial's satin finish and do not significantly detract from the overall vintage atmosphere.

As this is a vintage watch, it is not waterproof. Use in environments with high moisture (such as rainy days, washing your face, or wearing it on hot, sweaty days) is strictly prohibited.
As this is a precision instrument, please be careful of drops and strong impacts.
Additionally, please avoid bringing it near objects that emit strong magnetism, such as smartphones, PCs, or magnets on bag clasps.

Operation

Manual Winding: Rotate clockwise while the crown is in the normal position.

To wind the mainspring, please rotate the crown clockwise slowly and carefully.
It will feel light when you start winding, but it will become heavier as it reaches full tension.
Please note that on a manual-winding watch, forcing the crown once it has reached the winding stop will break the mainspring.

How to Pull the Crown: Insert a fingernail between the case and the crown and pull gently.

If you pull the crown too hard, there is a risk that it may come out. Please pull it out gently.
To prevent bending the crown, please remove the watch from your wrist before operating it.
Operating it gently will reduce the burden on the crown.

Time Adjustment: Pull out the crown and rotate it (this stops the second hand).
