IWC Vintage Cal. 853 Pellaton Automatic SS Script Logo Circa 1963 [Overhauled]

This is a 1963 IWC automatic model.

The fluid lines connecting the case to the lugs serve as a hallmark of IWC’s iconic case designs from the 1960s.
Its appeal lies in the clean, sophisticated aesthetic typical of a "vintage IWC" dress watch.

The dial features the cursive "International Watch Co." signature at the 12 o'clock position, lending it a sense of vintage character.
The outer perimeter of the dial is adorned with pearl dots (embedded metal spheres), a high-cost design detail frequently seen in IWC models from this era.
They emit a beautiful luster without appearing flashy, creating an elegant atmosphere.

The dial shows overall discoloration due to aging, light spotting, minor scratches, dulling of the indices, and staining along the dial edge (perimeter). It is a timepiece that allows you to enjoy the unique, profound aging process inherent to a vintage watch that has weathered the passage of over 60 years.

It is powered by the Pellaton automatic Cal. 853 movement.
First introduced in 1958, the Cal. 853 is widely considered the "definitive Pellaton automatic movement."
It is a legendary, robust design known for its excellent shock resistance, winding efficiency, and durability, thanks to its proprietary winding mechanism.
It does not feature a hacking (seconds-stop) function.

Condition

This watch has been overhauled and the exterior has been refinished.

The dial and hands exhibit overall discoloration and spotting characteristic of a vintage piece, along with dulling of the indices and staining at the edge (perimeter). While these are signs of aging consistent with its age, they provide the deeply tasteful character expected of a vintage IWC.
The case shows minor scratches that could not be removed during polishing, as well as slight wear consistent with its age, but it has not been over-polished, and the edges of the lugs remain relatively sharp.

The crown is a clean, non-logo dress crown (it is not the water-resistant "fish crown"). Crown operation is smooth.

The watch comes fitted with a brand-new leather strap by the Italian brand MORELLATO, so you can wear it comfortably immediately upon purchase.

Please note that as this is a vintage watch, it is not water-resistant. Do not wear it in environments with high moisture (such as on rainy days, while washing your face, or on hot days when you may sweat).
As this is a precision instrument, please be careful to avoid drops or strong impacts. Also, please keep it away from objects that emit strong magnetic fields, such as smartphones, PCs, or magnets used in bag closures.

Operation

How to pull the crown: Insert a fingernail between the case and the crown and pull gently.

Pulling the crown too forcefully may cause it to come out. Please pull gently.
To prevent the crown stem from bending, remove the watch from your wrist before operating.
Gentle operation helps reduce stress on the crown.

Manual Winding: Rotate clockwise in the neutral position.

To wind the mainspring, please turn the crown clockwise slowly and carefully.

Time Adjustment: Pull out the crown and rotate clockwise.
