This is a Seiko Crown Special stainless steel model from 1962.

The Crown Special was a model developed based on the Grand Seiko First model and released as a high-end watch for the general public.
At the time, the Grand Seiko First cost 25,000 yen, and the gold-filled Crown Special cost 10,000 yen.
Although there were differences in design and movement specifications, it can be said to be a masterpiece with an excellent balance of product grade and selling price. This model is a stainless steel model that is easy for everyday use and remains very popular today.

The dial features a radial finish (sunray finish), creating beautiful shadows depending on the angle of the light.
Over time, it has developed a beautiful vintage-specific texture, transitioning from champagne gold to a yellowish hue.
It is a high-grade specification called the "SD Dial (Special Dial)" with indices made of solid 18K or 14K gold.
The sun-like mark at the 6 o'clock position signifies an SD dial, and its elegant luster remains intact.
The hands are powerful dauphine hands, giving it a strong presence.

The case and case back are made entirely of stainless steel.
It retains an exquisite condition with minimal rounding from excessive polishing, preserving the original lug lines and sharp edges.
Furthermore, the crown, which is often replaced, is still the original "S mark" crown with almost no wear, further enhancing the watch's originality.

The movement installed is the Cal.341.
Compared to the Grand Seiko First, the movement finish and regulator types differ, but it is equipped with a hacking function (second-hand stop function).

Condition

This watch has been overhauled.
The crystal has no noticeable deep scratches, is very clear, and the dial readability is excellent.

The strap has been replaced with a new Seiko cowhide strap, ensuring comfortable use.

The crown operates smoothly.

In addition to the beautiful discoloration from age, the dial shows small spot-like stains at the 5 o'clock and 11 o'clock positions, and a small smudge near the 8 o'clock index. These are not noticeable to the naked eye and do not detract from the overall vintage atmosphere.

Due to it being an old watch, it is not waterproof. Strict avoidance of wet environments (rainy days, washing face, wearing on hot days with sweat, etc.) is essential.
As it is a precision instrument, please be careful of drops or strong impacts. Also, please avoid strong magnetic fields such as those from smartphones, PCs, or handbag clasps.

How to Operate

Manual Winding: Rotate the crown upwards in the normal position

To wind the mainspring, slowly and carefully turn the crown upwards.
When you first start winding, the crown may feel light, but it will become heavier as it winds up.
For hand-wound watches, forcing the winding once it is fully wound can break the mainspring. Please be careful.

How to Pull the Crown: Insert a fingernail between the case and crown and gently pull it out

Pulling the crown too hard may cause it to come out. Please pull it out gently.
To prevent the crown from bending, remove the watch from your wrist before operating.
Gentle operation reduces stress on the crown.
