Universal Genève White Shadow Ref. 866101 Gay Frères Bracelet Cal. 2-66 Automatic Overhauled 1970s

This is a Universal Genève White Shadow, a model that gained popularity for its "ultra-thin automatic movement."
 

The White Shadow is a masterpiece from Universal Genève, on par with their hand-wound chronographs.

It is equipped with the ultra-thin Cal. 2-66 movement, measuring just '2.5 mm'.
This is a high-grade movement with 25 jewels and adjusted to two positions.
 

Automatic movements from other manufacturers at the time were quite thick because they placed automatic winding components on top of a hand-wound movement, and then covered it with a rotor.
 

Universal Genève, however, rearranged the component layout of their hand-wound movement and embedded automatic winding components along with a compact "microrotor" into the newly created space, successfully achieving astonishing thinness.

The dial is white, featuring Roman numerals and two hands in a classic design.
 

The crown is original and engraved with a "U".
Although the crown has a small diameter of 3.6mm, the case back is curved, making it easier to wind by hand.

This watch has been overhauled and the exterior finished by our shop, making it ready for immediate use.

It comes with an original Gay Frères bracelet, which can accommodate wrist sizes up to 186mm.
