[Rare] Grand Seiko Second Model Early Type 43999, AD Dial, W SEIKO Crown, Lion Medallion, Manual Wind, Overhauled, Manufactured in 1964 (Showa 39)

This is a second-generation Grand Seiko, the pinnacle of Japanese watchmaking.

Production of the second-generation Grand Seiko began in 1964, four years after the first model.

Compared to the first model, a date display (with a quick-set function) was added.
It features a screw-down case back, achieving 50m water resistance (at the time of manufacture),
improving its practicality.

The case material was changed to stainless steel.
The thicker lugs improve durability and provide a commanding presence.
 

This particular piece is an early production model featuring a "Lion Medallion" on the case back, making it a rare find with low production numbers even among second-generation models.

The dial is the early type, with Grand Seiko Diashock 35 jewels printed at the 6 o'clock position. (This was replaced by the GS logo on the late-model version.)

The multi-faceted, mirror-finished hands and indices radiate an elegant brilliance.
 

It is powered by the manual-wind Cal. 430 movement.

The crown has a large 5.5mm diameter, making it easy to grip,
so we recommend it even for those new to manual-wind watches.

How to operate Caliber 430

Manual winding: Turn clockwise in the normal crown position

Time setting: Pull the crown out to the second click and turn counter-clockwise (the second hand will stop)

Date quick-set: Pull the crown out to the first click and turn counter-clockwise

While the quick-set function is convenient, operating the quick-set while the watch shows a time between 9:00 PM and 2:00 AM may cause damage.
We recommend setting the time to around 6 o'clock before performing a quick-set adjustment.

Condition

This watch has been overhauled and professionally polished by our shop and is ready for immediate use.

The leather strap has been replaced with a brand new genuine part, so you can enjoy wearing it with peace of mind.

The crown is original and bears the "W SEIKO" logo.
Many second-generation models have worn or replaced crowns, but this piece retains its original "W SEIKO" crown.

There are no deep scratches on the back, and the gold medallion is in excellent condition with no significant damage.

There are no noticeable scratches or stains on the dial.
Overall, the watch is in beautiful condition without any conspicuous damage.
 

Due to its age, this watch is not waterproof.
Please avoid wearing it on rainy days or during hot weather.
