This is a Rolex Air-King "Ref. 5500".
The Air-King is a long-selling model produced from the late 1950s to the late 1980s.
This is a model from around 1969.
It features a sunburst dial with a subtle luster and an attractive, compact case size.
The dial indices are silver with a simple design featuring luminous material at the tips.
While later versions of the Ref. 5500 feature black markers on the indices, this particular piece has an antique look.
It features a large 5.3mm diameter crown, making it easy to set the time and wind manually.
The crown engraving is also beautifully preserved.
The movement is the "Cal. 1520," the successor to the Cal. 1530.
The Cal. 1520 has an improved vibration rate, increased from 18,000 to 19,800 vibrations per hour.
It also includes manual winding and a hacking function (second-hand stop function; from the 1970s onwards), making it very user-friendly.
*As this is a piece from around 1969, it does not have a hacking function.
As a non-date model, it has the advantage of not requiring calendar adjustments.
Recommended for those looking for a simple, elegant Rolex or a smaller-sized Rolex.
Operation
Unscrewing the crown: With the crown in the normal position, rotate downward.
The crown screws in smoothly.
When screwing the crown back in, we recommend finding the thread carefully and screwing it in slowly to avoid damaging the threads.
Manual winding: Unscrew the crown, then rotate upward.
Setting the time: Pull out the crown and rotate downward.
The second hand does not stop.
Condition
This watch has been overhauled and externally polished by our shop.
The crystal has been replaced with a new (aftermarket) one and is in beautiful condition.

It comes with an original 3-link Oyster bracelet that fits wrists up to 188mm in circumference.
While there are minor scratches on the case and bracelet, it is in excellent condition overall with no prominent damage.
Due to its age, this watch is non-waterproof. (There is no water-resistance warranty.)
Please be careful to keep it away from moisture.
