[Rare] Grand Seiko 2nd Model Early Version 5722-9990 Lion Medallion GS Buckle W SEIKO Crown Cal.5722A Manual Winding Overhauled Made in 1965 Seiko

This is the second model of Grand Seiko, the pinnacle of Japanese watchmaking.

The Grand Seiko second model began production in 1964, four years after the first model.
Compared to the first model, a date display (with quick-set function) was added.
It adopted a screw-back case for the case back, achieving 50m water resistance (at the time of manufacture).
Practicality has been improved.

This particular unit features a lion medallion on the case back, making it a rare and limited production among second models.

The dial is an early type, with "Grand Seiko Diashock 35 jewels" printed at the 6 o'clock position (later types changed to the GS logo).
The applied markers that were printed on the earliest dials have been abolished, resulting in a cleaner design.
The indexes and hour and minute hands are multi-faceted and mirror-finished, giving them an elegant shine.

The case material is stainless steel.
The thicker lug design also improves durability and gives it a strong presence.
 

The movement is a hand-wound 'Cal. 5722A'.
The crown is 5.5mm in diameter, making it easy to grip, so it is also recommended for those who are new to hand-wound watches.

How to operate Caliber 5722A

Hand-winding: Rotate the crown upwards in the normal position.

Time setting: Pull the crown out two clicks and rotate downwards.

The second hand stops.

Date quick-set: Pull the crown out one click and rotate downwards.

Performing quick-set when the watch indicates between '9 PM and 2 AM' will cause damage.
It is recommended to set the time to around 6 o'clock before performing quick-set.

Condition

This item has been overhauled and refinished by our store.

The crown is original and features the W SEIKO logo.
Many second model crowns show wear or have been replaced with different crowns,
but this unit has the "W SEIKO" crown.
The crown retains its original shape well, and crown operation is smooth.

The dial of this unit is very clean with only slight discoloration.
The gold medallion on the back has some deterioration but is relatively clean.

The strap is a new current SEIKO model, which can be used comfortably.
The buckle is a current Grand Seiko 16mm buckle.

Due to its age, it is not waterproof.
Please avoid wearing it on rainy days or hot days.
