Seiko Crown Special 18K Solid Gold Ref. 70198 Cal. 341 23 Jewels Hand-wound Overhauled, Made in 1964

This is an 18k solid gold model of the Seiko Crown Special from 1964.

The Crown Special was a high-end watch released as a minor revision of the Grand Seiko First model.
At the time, the price of the Grand Seiko First was 25,000 yen, and the gold-filled Crown Special was 10,000 yen.
While there are differences in design and movement specifications, it can be said to be a model with an excellent balance between product grade and sales price.

The Ref. 70198 is a very rare model among the Crown Specials, featuring an 18k solid gold case.

The dial has a radial finish, creating a beautiful luster depending on the angle of the light.
The hands are powerful dauphine hands, giving it a strong presence.
 

It is equipped with the Cal. 341 movement.
Compared to the Grand Seiko First, the movement finish and type of regulator differ, but it is also equipped with a hacking function.

It comes with a genuine S-mark crown and a gold-plated SEIKO buckle.

This is a charming piece with a beautiful case design and the luxury of solid gold.

Condition

This watch has been overhauled and the exterior polished by our store.

The crystal has been replaced with a new (matching) one, providing excellent dial visibility.

The strap has been replaced with a new genuine crocodile leather one, ensuring comfortable wear.
The buckle is SEIKO, with a gold-plated finish.

Solid gold is less durable than stainless steel.
We recommend not tightening the strap too much to avoid putting stress on the lugs when wearing.

The crown is original, with some wear, but the S-mark is still visible.

The dial has small blemishes, but it is relatively clean considering its manufacturing year.

Due to its vintage age, it is not water-resistant.
Please avoid wearing it on rainy or hot days.
Also, be careful of impacts and magnetic fields.
