商品説明
This is a rare 18K solid gold case 'Lord Marvel' from 1960.
At the time, the Lord Marvel retailed for 9,800 yen for the stainless steel version, 12,800 yen for the gold-plated version, and 25,600 yen for the 18K solid gold version.
The Lord Marvel, production of which began in May 1958, was the highest-grade model that was a more luxurious and high-precision version of the Marvel.
The number of jewels in the movement increased from 17 to 23.
The movement's exterior was also elaborately finished, with parts such as the ratchet wheel being engraved and mirror-polished, and screws being polished.
All of these techniques were inherited by the Grand Seiko, which began production in 1960.
This particular piece is an early model of the Lord Marvel.
The Seiko Lord Marvel logo on the dial is engraved and elaborately finished.
The dial is a high-grade specification called an 'SD dial'.
The indices are made of solid 18K or 14K gold.
The sun-like mark at the 6 o'clock position indicates an SD dial, and its elegant luster is still present today.
The case is made of 18K solid gold.
As many Lord Marvels have gold-plated cases, this is a rare piece.
The case back has the rounded shape characteristic of early models.
The lugs are long and mirror-polished.
The design makes the vertical lines appear sleek.
Since 18K solid gold is softer than stainless steel, it is recommended not to fasten the strap too tightly to avoid putting excessive stress on the lugs.
This particular piece has a "hairspring stud holder screw" on the balance bridge of the movement, making it an early production model of the Lord Marvel.
Observing the mechanics of the Lord Marvel offers an interesting glimpse into the process of product improvement.
Recommended for those looking for a simple and elegant antique watch.
