Manufactured in 1964, this is an automatic model of the "International."
The Ref. 648A features a large 36.5mm case.
It is larger and more impressive than other IWC models from the same period.
The dial features a sunray finish, with fine lines radiating outward.
Combined with its raised, domed shape, it creates beautiful shadows from the center to the outer edge, giving it a sense of luxury.
The "International Watch Co." signature in script at the 12 o'clock position evokes a classic vintage atmosphere.
There is a date display at the 3 o'clock position on the dial, with a magnifying lens for the date integrated into the inside of the crystal.
The watch uses bold dauphine hands, providing a strong presence.
The crown is an original IWC part and features the "fish mark."
It is powered by the Cal. 8531 Pellaton automatic movement.
This is a robustly designed movement known for its excellent shock resistance, winding efficiency, and durability.
It does not feature a hacking (seconds-stop) function or a quick-set date mechanism.
How to operate the Cal. 8531
How to pull the crown: Push your fingernail between the case and the crown and move it like a lever.
When pulling the crown, it is easier to pull by pushing your fingernail into the gap between the crown and the case from the back side.
Please remove the watch from your wrist before operating.
Operating gently reduces the burden on the crown and prevents it from coming out.
Hand-winding: Rotate clockwise in the normal crown position.
Time setting: Pull the crown out and rotate clockwise.
The second hand does not stop.
Condition
This watch has been overhauled and the exterior finished by our store.
The strap is a brand-new Di-Modell piece, allowing you to use it with confidence.
There is some aging (patina), spotting, and linear scratches on the dial.
There are minor scratches on the crystal that could not be removed during polishing, but the dial remains highly legible.
Due to its age, this watch is non-waterproof.
Please avoid wearing it on rainy or hot days.
Also, please be careful of shocks and magnetism.
