This is a 1970 IWC automatic model, Ref. 820A.
At 36mm in diameter, it is relatively large for an IWC from this period.
Measuring approximately 45mm lug-to-lug, it has a notable presence on the wrist.
It is a rare model featuring a screw-back case.
The crown is genuine IWC and features the "fish" logo.
The dial has a sunburst finish, allowing it to shine elegantly depending on the angle.
At the 12 o'clock position, it features both an applied "IWC" logo and the company name "International Watch Co" in script, creating a classic vintage atmosphere.
It is powered by the Pellaton automatic movement, Cal. 8541B.
Thinner than previous movements, this is considered the most practical of the Pellaton automatic calibers.
It features a hacking seconds function, quick-set date, and manual winding, making it highly practical.
Operation Instructions
Manual Winding: With the crown in the normal position, rotate upwards.
Time Setting: Pull out the crown and rotate upwards.
The second hand will stop.
Quick-set Date: Pull out the crown and move the hands back and forth between 11:45 PM and 12:00 AM.
1) Advance the hands until the time passes 12:00 AM.
If the date changes, it is midnight. If it does not, it is noon.
2) Once you have confirmed the date has changed, move the hands back to 11:45 PM.
This preps the calendar for the next day.
3) Advance the hands to 12:00 AM.
Confirm that the date has advanced by one day.
Repeat steps 1) through 3) to advance the date one day at a time.
To reduce stress on the movement, please operate slowly.
Condition
This watch has been overhauled and the exterior polished by our shop.
The dial has aged nicely throughout, creating a pleasant vintage look.
The inner ring at the periphery of the dial shows areas that appear gold due to fading.
There are also some pinhead-sized marks on the inner ring, but they are not very noticeable.
While the crystal has minor scratches that could not be fully removed during polishing, the dial remains clearly visible.
Crown operation is smooth.
Due to its age, this watch is not waterproof.
Please avoid wearing it on rainy or hot days.
Please also be careful to avoid shocks and magnetic fields while using the watch.
