商品説明
The 1968 Omega Constellation Ref. 168.018 is a masterpiece that stands out for its rare cap gold construction and refined design.
Design and Material
The 35mm diameter case is covered in an exceptionally thick layer of gold known as cap gold. This was a special manufacturing method used for high-end watches until around the 1960s; unlike standard gold plating or gold filling, it required the precision bonding of a thick gold plate onto a stainless steel case, a process that was both labor-intensive and costly. As a result, there are extremely few surviving examples of this rare model.
This thick layer of gold retains its beautiful luster over time, offering a sophisticated, gentle hue that avoids gaudy brilliance and enhances the unique charm of this vintage watch. The hairline-finished bezel and slender lugs further accentuate its elegant impression. Opportunities to encounter such rare cap gold pieces are quite infrequent.
Attention to Detail
The screw-back case is made of stainless steel and still features the gold observatory logo in excellent condition. On Constellation models, the gold observatory logo is relatively rare, adding to the special appeal of this timepiece.
Dial and Movement
The sunburst dial is adorned with applied bar indices and dauphine hands, creating a sophisticated and refined aesthetic. At the 12 o'clock position, the text "CHRONOMETER OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED" signifies its certification by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (C.O.S.C.), attesting to its superior precision.
It is powered by the chronometer-certified "Caliber 564" movement, which was featured in Omega's premium "Constellation" line. The beautiful red-gold plating applied throughout the movement exudes the dignity characteristic of a high-end machine.
This Omega Constellation Ref. 168.018 is a special piece that allows you to experience history and quality in your daily life, making it truly worthy of being cherished through the ages.
Caliber 564 Operation
Winding: Rotate clockwise in the neutral crown position
Setting the time: Pull the crown to the second position and rotate counter-clockwise
Quick-set date: Pull the crown to the third position
To advance the date repeatedly, move the crown back and forth between the third and second positions.
Performing a quick-set operation while the watch displays a time between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM may cause damage.
We recommend setting the time to around 6:00 before performing a quick-set operation.
Condition
This watch has been overhauled and the exterior has been polished.
The crown has been replaced with a new, genuine Omega part, ensuring very smooth operation for setting the time and winding the mainspring.

The buckle features an Ω mark, but as there is no hallmark on the back, it is assumed to be an aftermarket item.

While there are minor scratches that could not be removed through polishing, it remains in good condition.
Due to its age, this watch is not waterproof.
