Seiko Crown Special Gold-Plated J14100 Cal.341 23 Jewels Manual Wind, Serviced, Manufactured in 1963 (Showa 38)

This is a 14K gold-filled Seiko Crown Special model manufactured in 1963.

The Crown Special is a high-end model released as a minor update to the first-generation Grand Seiko.
At the time, the Grand Seiko First was priced at 25,000 yen, while the gold-filled Crown Special (with stainless steel case back) was 8,900 yen.
Although there are differences in design and movement specifications, it can be considered a model with an excellent balance between product grade and retail price.

The dial features a radial finish, which creates beautiful shadows depending on the angle of the light.
The hands are powerful, bold dauphine hands that provide a strong presence.

The case is 14K gold-filled, with a stainless steel case back.

It is powered by the Cal. 341 movement.
While the movement finish and type of regulator differ from those of the Grand Seiko First, it is also equipped with a hacking (seconds-hand stop) function.

Condition

This watch has been overhauled and the exterior has been polished.

The crystal has some minor scratches and linear marks that could not be removed through polishing, but the dial remains clearly visible.

The strap has been replaced with a new (genuine) cowhide leather strap, so you can wear it with comfort.

The crown does not have the 'S' mark.
The crown operates smoothly.

The dial shows signs of aging/patina.

Due to its age, this watch is not waterproof.
Please avoid wearing it on rainy or hot days.
Also, please be careful to avoid impacts and magnetic fields.
