商品説明
The Earth Watch wn-1 is a rare, limited-production timepiece that captivates with its one-of-a-kind concept of the Earth itself marking time and its innovative design.
The Story Behind Its Creation: Perceiving the Earth as Our Own
Born in 2001, the Earth Watch wn-1 is more than just a tool for telling time. This watch was planned by the non-profit project "Think the Earth" with the desire to spark opportunities to think about environmental and social issues as personal matters, through the perspective of "viewing the Earth from space." In the midst of our busy lives, a sudden glance at our wrist reveals the Earth, slowly ticking away. This experience allows us to rediscover our connection to our planet.
Unique Function and Design
Time is marked by a domed, three-dimensional globe. The hour hand is a silver marker integrated into the Earth, which rotates counter-clockwise over 24 hours, just like the actual Earth. The minute hand is a vibrant orange indicator. Much like a satellite orbiting the Earth, it steadily marks the passing minutes. Additionally, the case is made of lightweight and durable titanium. This watch features a playful design that allows it to be used not only as a wristwatch but also as a desk clock by removing the core module.
How to Read the Time
At first glance, reading the time on the Earth Watch wn-1 may seem confusing. However, that unique structure is its greatest charm. The hour hand rotates counter-clockwise over 24 hours, mirroring the Earth's rotation. You can determine the time by reading the 24-hour markers engraved on the bezel that the hour hand points to. The minute hand, like a standard watch, moves clockwise, completing a full circle every 60 minutes via the orange indicator. Feeling the movement of the Earth on your wrist as it marks time in this slow, steady manner will surely make this your favorite timepiece.
Why Does It Still Captivate People?
Even more than 20 years after its release, the wn-1 continues to attract many people. Its innovative concept and design were highly acclaimed, winning the 2001 Good Design Award and a "Watch of the Year" Gold Prize. As a limited-production item, it is extremely rare on the market, and its scarcity value continues to rise year by year. The history and story behind this watch are the sources of its timeless appeal.
Now, more time has passed since its release, so why not add this special watch to your collection, along with its unique story?
Operation Instructions
For detailed operating instructions, please refer to the included manual.
How to remove the bezel and core module: Rotate the bezel 90 degrees to the left.
Ensure that the marks on the case and bezel align at the 9 o'clock position.
Gently push the core module up from the bottom. It is safest to cup your palm to catch the core module so it does not fall.
Setting the time: Pull the crown out two clicks. Move the minute hand back more than half a rotation, then advance it to set the time to the orange "time-setting mark."
Due to the watch's structure, it takes about one minute to start after setting the time, so please set the time about one minute ahead of the current time.
