Universal Geneve 18K Yellow Gold Manual Winding Dress Watch
[Details Infused with "The Couturier's Philosophy"]
This is an exquisitely refined vintage dress watch, produced by Universal Geneve around 1955, during its golden age when the brand championed its philosophy of "Couturier de la Montre" (Watch Designer/Tailor), pursuing design and elegance.
■ Rare 18K Yellow Gold Case
The case is crafted from luxurious 18K (K18) yellow gold. Its smart design, featuring a round case combined with slender lugs, is truly a classic dress watch. Inside the case back, Universal Geneve's proud brand logo and an 18K hallmark are clearly engraved.
■ Thoroughly Implemented Elegance
Thanks to the Caliber 1200 manual winding movement, the case thickness is kept exceptionally thin at just 9.0mm. This thinness ensures a smart fit that slips beautifully under a shirt cuff, in line with the brand's philosophy.
■ Classic Design
The dial has aged beautifully into a champagne gold color, possessing a subtle yet exquisite luster. This unique vintage texture lends the watch an air of distinction. It features Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock, elegant dauphine hands, and a classic small seconds sub-dial (at 6 o'clock), embodying the pinnacle of design from that era.
[Important Notes on Purchase: Regarding the Strap (for reverse spring bars)]
The lugs (strap attachment part) of this model have a protruding structure like "horns" (designed for reverse spring bars), which was common in antique watches.
The strap currently attached also uses these reverse spring bars.
When attaching a new leather strap (such as those from Camille Fournet with quick-release spring bars), please:
- Remove the quick-release spring bars from the new strap.
- Replace them with the existing reverse spring bars for use.
*Please note that the watch cannot be worn without using reverse spring bars. Please consider this point before making a purchase.
Condition
This watch has been overhauled.
The strap is new, made by Di-Modell, ensuring comfortable wear.
The case has minor scratches and a small dent on the side at 9 o'clock, but is otherwise in relatively good condition.
The crystal has minor scratches, but the dial is highly legible.
The dial shows some tanning and small stains, as well as a scratch at 9 o'clock, but is in good condition considering its age.
Due to the watch's vintage age, it is not waterproof.
Please avoid wearing it on rainy days or hot days.
Please also be careful to protect it from shocks and magnetic fields.
