This is a rare Auguste Reymond "Ref. 78790" from the 1990s (a model featured in the 1994 Imported Watch Yearbook).
Auguste Reymond is a historic manufacturer founded in Switzerland in 1898. At one time, the company owned the factory that produced the renowned "Unitas" movements, and its high technical prowess is deeply etched in watchmaking history.
This model is a masterpiece that represents the company during its golden age, combining a classic design reminiscent of that era with ambitious mechanisms.
Its greatest feature is its special specifications, which reproduce the style of vintage chronographs from the 1940s and 50s, while being based on the famous ETA7750 movement.
It employs a pointer date that indicates the date with a hand rather than a window display. Furthermore, it features a beautiful moon phase display at the 3 o'clock position, and its unique layout exudes an extremely elegant appearance.
[Supreme Dial Woven with Color and Form]
The dial is an antique-toned nuanced color where subtle gray and champagne gold intricately blend in a radial (sunray) finish. This deep color changes its expression depending on how the light hits it, exuding a unique presence.
The sculptural beauty in the details is also noteworthy, with three-dimensional gold wedge-shaped indices reminiscent of high-end models that graced the golden age of the 1950s. They reflect light, giving a shimmer to the surface and bringing overwhelming depth to the multi-functional dial.
Furthermore, the color contrast of the hands is outstanding. The main hour and minute hands are in elegant gold, while the chronograph seconds hand, small seconds hand, 30-minute counter, 12-hour counter, and pointer date—a total of five hands—are in vivid blue, achieving both high visibility and the beauty of a work of art at a high level.
The movement is an automatic chronograph. While equipped with the practical 7750, it deliberately omits the hacking (stop-seconds) function and moves the date adjustment to the side of the case, a design (vintage homage) that allows one to enjoy the "ritual of operation" reminiscent of an antique watch.
This is a historical model that was even featured with a photograph in the 1994 Imported Watch Yearbook, but it has long been out of production and is an extremely rare and unique model to find on the market.

Condition
This watch has been overhauled and its exterior polished.
The strap has been replaced with a new Morellato crocodile leather strap, making it comfortable to wear.
There are minor scratches on the case and crystal, but considering its age, it remains in very beautiful condition.

As it is a precision instrument, please be careful of drops and strong impacts. Also, please keep it away from magnetic objects (smartphones, PCs, magnets, etc.).
How to Operate
Manual winding: Rotate the crown upwards in its normal position
Time setting: Pull the crown out two clicks and rotate it downwards (forward rotation of hands) to set the time.
*The first click of the crown is designed to be free-spinning (no function), but this is not a malfunction; it is a normal and unique specification of this model.
The second hand does not stop (hacking function is omitted, reproducing vintage specifications).
Quick date adjustment: Press the button on the 3 o'clock side of the case with a thin pin, etc.
Operating the quick adjustment when the watch hands are between '9 PM and 3 AM' may cause damage.
If you need to use the quick adjustment, we strongly recommend setting the time to around 6 AM/PM first.
*The moon phase does not have a quick adjustment function. It moves in conjunction with the time setting (hand advancement).
Chronograph start/stop: Press the top right button
Chronograph reset: Press the bottom right button (while stopped)
Always reset the chronograph when it is stopped.
Pressing reset when it is not stopped may cause damage.
