商品説明
This is a King Seiko First Model, Ref. J14102.
The King Seiko series was produced until the 1970s and is positioned as a top-tier series alongside Seiko's premium model, "Grand Seiko."
The First Model is a high-precision wristwatch produced by the Daini Seikosha Kameido factory, aiming for "Swiss Chronometer" standards.
It was announced in 1961 and manufactured until around 1963.
While possessing specifications comparable to the Grand Seiko, it adopted a movement 2mm smaller in diameter, making it the top-of-the-line model at the time.
The case is 14K gold-filled. The case back is snap-on, and the inside of the case back is engraved with "14K GOLD FILLED."
The dial has a radial finish, and this particular piece has changed from champagne gold to a more bronze-like color over time due to aging.
The dial is a "SD dial," a luxury specification where the indexes are made of solid gold.
The star-like mark (SD mark) at the 6 o'clock position is proof of this, and the three-dimensional feel and brilliance unique to solid gold exude a vintage elegance.
It features thick bar indexes and dolphin hands, creating a simple yet powerful design.
Condition
This watch has been overhauled.
The strap has been replaced with a new Seiko genuine cowhide strap. Due to its soft material, it can be used smoothly as is.
【Exterior】
The dial shows widespread discoloration.
The crystal has scuffs and scratches from use (see image).
The case has minor scuffs and scratches, and three lugs show bending.
Specifically, the lower left lug is bent downwards and inwards, causing the lug tip to interfere with the side of the strap.
While the lug width (18mm) is maintained, thick or stiff leather straps may be difficult to attach or may damage the strap due to interference, so we recommend using a soft material strap.
King Seiko J14102E models (not limited to this individual piece) have thin lugs, which are less strong than stainless steel.
When wearing, we recommend not tightening the strap too much to avoid putting stress on the lugs.
【Crown】
The crown is presumed to be genuine from the period based on its shape, but the "S" mark has disappeared due to wear from years of use.
Operation itself is smooth.
As this is an old watch, it is not waterproof. Do not use it in damp environments (e.g., on rainy days, while washing your face, or wearing it on hot, sweaty days).
It is a precision instrument, so please be careful of drops and strong impacts. Also, please keep it away from strong magnetic sources such as smartphones, PCs, and bag clasps with magnets.
Operation
Manual winding: Turn the crown upwards in the normal position
When winding the mainspring, turn the crown slowly and carefully upwards.
Please note that if you try to force winding when it's fully wound, the mainspring may break.
How to pull out the crown: Press a fingernail between the case and the crown and move it like a lever
To reduce stress on the crown, always remove the watch from your wrist before operating.
Setting the time: Pull out the crown and turn it downwards
It does not have a hacking (second hand stop) function.
