商品説明
This is a Longines "Ultrachron Chronometer" manufactured around 1973.
The Ultrachron features a center seconds hand, a date display, and a high-beat, slim movement.
The lineup includes models equipped with the Caliber 431, a 10-beat movement that began production in 1968, and models with the Caliber 6651, an 8-beat movement that began production in 1972.
This particular piece is a chronometer model.
The outer edge of the chronometer model's rotor is fitted with a heavy gold-colored weight that, at first glance, resembles solid gold. This is not merely decorative; it is a luxurious design unique to chronometer movements, crafted to maximize winding efficiency by making the outer circumference heavier. You can enjoy the pinnacle of design from that era, combining practicality and beauty.
The rotor rotates smoothly and has a unique rotation sound.
The silver dial features a vertical hairline finish.
The Longines brand logo, the "winged hourglass," is positioned at 12 o'clock, and the three-dimensional "Ultrachron" logo is at 6 o'clock, both shining subtly when light reflects off them.
The luminous paint on the tips of the hands and at four positions on the indices (12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock) has changed to a deep, vintage-like hue. This warm-toned aging creates a delicate accent against the silver dial, strongly evoking the atmosphere of the period.
The case is made of stainless steel with a hairline finish.
The case back is a screw-back type, featuring the Ultrachron logo.
The crown is engraved with "LONGINES" and the "winged hourglass" logo.
While various companies were focusing on developing quartz movements in the 1970s, this particular piece is a masterpiece of a mechanical movement released by Longines.
Condition
This watch has been overhauled and the exterior has been polished.
As you can see in the macro images, there is a slight distortion due to age near the index at 12 o'clock on the dial. While not overtly conspicuous, please understand this as a characteristic unique to antique watches.
The crystal has minor scratches that could not be removed during polishing. There are impact marks particularly around the edge near the 1 o'clock position, but they do not significantly impair visibility.
Overall, including the case exterior, it maintains good condition, allowing you to enjoy the age-appropriate character.
The strap has been replaced with a new Morellato one, ensuring comfortable use.
Due to its age, this watch is not waterproof. Exposure to moisture (rainy days, face washing, wearing on hot days when sweating, etc.) is strictly prohibited.
Additionally, as a precision instrument, please be very careful about drops, strong impacts, and magnetism (smartphones, PCs, speakers, bag magnets, etc.).
How to Operate Caliber 6651
There is no hacking seconds function originally.
How to pull the crown: Gently pull out the crown by inserting a fingernail between the case and the crown.
Pulling the crown too forcefully may cause it to detach. Please pull it out gently.
To prevent the crown from bending, operate it with the watch off your wrist.
Gentle operation can reduce stress on the crown.
Manual winding: In the normal crown position, rotate upwards.
Time setting: Pull the crown and rotate downwards.
Quick-set date: Pull the crown and move the hands between "10 PM and 12 AM" repeatedly to advance the date.
1) Move the hands to 12 AM (24:00).
If the date changes, it's 12 AM. If it doesn't, it's 12 PM.
2) Once you've confirmed the date has changed, move the hands back to 10 PM.
This prepares the watch to display the next day's calendar.
3) Advance the hands to 12 AM.
Confirm that the date has advanced by one day.
Repeat steps 1-3 to quick-set the date one day at a time.
To reduce stress on the movement, please operate slowly.
