商品説明

This is a Seiko Matic Self-Dater Cal.395 from 1964.

It is a luxury model equipped with the best functions of its time, such as a multi-jewel specification (39 jewels), date display, quick date-setting function, and hack function.

This particular model features a lavish specification with an extra-thick 260-micron gold-plated (GOLD CAP) case.
At a time when general gold plating (GP) was about 20 microns and gold filled (GF) was about 80 microns, 260 microns, which is more than three times that thickness, can be said to be an extremely robust and luxurious construction intended for lifelong use.

The movement is finished appropriately for a high-grade model with gold plating.

The installed Cal.395 is a rare movement that was based on Cal.394 (24 jewels) and was enhanced to 39 jewels in pursuit of further luxury during the multi-jewel competition of the time.
Its overwhelming number of jewels is a testament to its position as a high-end model of the era, and its design reflects Seiko's ambition.

A hack function was also added, making it a highly refined movement that brought together Seiko's automatic winding technology.
It influenced the design and engineering of the later Matic Chronometer and 62 Grand Seiko.

The case features a 260-micron gold cap specification, emitting an elegant shine from its mirror finish.
Combined with the case design where the crown does not protrude, it gives a stylish impression.
The crown embedded in the case suggests confidence in the automatic winding movement, which does not require manual winding via the crown.

The dial features a sunray finish, with a glossy dial ring, date display, spinning top mark, and AD mark on the outer circumference.
Over time, it has discolored to a beautiful salmon pink color, allowing you to enjoy the unique vintage aesthetic.
(There is a faint stain at the 10 o'clock position, but it does not detract from the overall appearance.)

The case back features a screw-back specification.
The engraving of "39 within a crown," a testament to the 39-jewel model, and the "dolphin" symbol, representing high water resistance, remain.

Recommended for those looking for an automatic winding model with a subdued gold color, and those who want to enjoy the unique aging of a one-of-a-kind piece.

Condition

This watch has been overhauled.

The strap has been replaced with a new one (genuine Seiko), so you can use it with pleasure.

Due to its age, it is not water-resistant. Do not use in wet environments (e.g., on rainy days, when washing your face, or on hot days when you sweat).
As it is a precision instrument, please be careful of drops and strong impacts. Also, please keep it away from strong magnetic sources such as smartphones, PCs, and magnetic clasps.

How to operate Caliber 395

Winding the mainspring: Wind by shaking the watch

No manual winding function

If the watch has stopped, shake it gently 30-40 times to
wind the mainspring before use

Pulling out the crown: Insert your fingernail between the case and the crown from the back

Pull out the crown by moving your inserted fingernail like a lever

Setting the time: Pull the crown out two clicks and turn it downwards

With the crown pulled out two clicks, the second hand stops.
The small size of the crown makes it difficult to grip and set the time.

Quick date setting: Pull the crown out one click and turn it downwards

Setting the date quickly when the watch hands are between '9 PM and 3 AM' may cause damage.
It is recommended to set the time to around 6 o'clock before performing the quick date setting.
