The Rolex Datejust is a long-selling, iconic model of the brand, equipped with the "Datejust mechanism" that instantly changes the date.

This Ref. 1601 is an antique model manufactured in 1966. It is equipped with the Cal. 1570 movement, renowned as one of Rolex's finest movements in history. This particular piece maintains the robust construction characteristic of the golden era, typical of watches from the 1960s.

The dial has aged over time, changing to a warm champagne gold-like color, giving it the unique charm of an antique watch. Furthermore, this particular piece lacks luminous material, so there's no concern about the luminescence peeling or discoloring, maintaining a clean appearance.

The indices feature bar indices with a semi-gloss finish and a linear texture. This unique design creates subtle shadows, unlike typical polished indices. The bezel uses 18K white gold, adding an elegant shine.

The Cal. 1570 movement boasts extremely high reliability in terms of durability and accuracy. The rotor rotates smoothly, and its operation in daily use is excellent.

This is a piece that possesses the unique details of a 1960s Rolex, not found in current models, and the charm of aging developed over many years.

Condition

This watch has been overhauled and its exterior refinished.

We performed an overhaul, including mainspring replacement. We have confirmed the powerful hand movement characteristic of the Cal. 1570 and excellent accuracy. The crown screws in about 1.5 rotations, and the winding operation is smooth. Time setting also works well.
*When screwing in the crown, we recommend gently finding the position where it can be screwed in without damaging the screw threads, and screwing it in slowly.

The dial shows color changes due to aging. There are tiny dot stains near 9 o'clock and slight dullness on the hands, but these do not detract from the overall aesthetics, and for a 1960s piece, it remains in beautiful condition.

On the side of the case (6 o'clock side), near the last digit of the serial number, traces of corrosion due to many years of practical use can be seen. No excessive polishing or repairs have been done to preserve the original shape of the case. Some parts of the engraving are difficult to read, but this does not affect the watch's function or use.

It is fitted with the original Jubilee bracelet, which has a comfortable, well-worn feel typical of an antique. It can accommodate a maximum wrist size of approximately 178mm.

As this is an old watch, it is not waterproof (no waterproof guarantee).
Please be careful when exposing it to moisture. Also, be mindful of strong impacts and magnetism.

Cal. 1570 (non-hacking) Operation Instructions

Unscrew crown: Rotate crown downwards from normal position

When screwing in the crown, to avoid damaging the screw threads,
carefully find the position where it can be screwed in and turn it slowly.
Over-tightening the crown can stress the screw threads. Please avoid over-tightening.

Manual winding: Unscrew crown and rotate upwards

Time setting: Pull out crown and rotate downwards (second hand does not stop due to lack of hacking function)

Quick date set: Advance the date one day at a time by rotating the hands (no quick-set function)
