商品説明
This is a 56 King Seiko Chronometer made in 1970.
Although the Ref. 5626-7040 is a model that was fully launched in 1970, this specific piece is an "02 serial" example manufactured in February 1970, when that full-scale rollout began.
It features the classic, perfected design that represents the 56KS Chronometer, a model that continues to enjoy enduring popularity in the vintage market.
The 56 King Seiko Chronometer was the first domestic automatic model to receive "Official Chronometer Certification."
Due to this official certification, it was formally labeled as a world-standard chronometer with "CHRONOMETER OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED" printed on the dial.
To enhance water resistance, the case is a one-piece construction with an integrated case back.
The case is equipped with an external fine adjustment device at the 5 o'clock position.
The back still bears the beautiful KS gold medallion with the "CHRONOMETER" inscription, a hallmark of early models.
The dial features an elegant sunburst finish, which produces a beautiful sheen depending on the angle of the light.
The movement is a high-beat caliber operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (8 beats per second).
It is equipped with a hacking function (second-hand stop) and a practical day/date calendar function (with quick-set).
With its thick, robust, and fluid one-piece case, chronometer-exclusive KS medallion on the back, and high visibility and functionality, this is a truly historic timepiece.
Condition
This watch has been overhauled and the exterior has been refinished.
The strap has been replaced with a brand-new genuine SEIKO leather strap, making it comfortable to wear.
The crown is an original piece engraved with "KS" and operates smoothly.
The crystal is clear with no noticeable scratches.
The dial shows slight signs of aging along the outer edge (rim), but the center of the dial maintains a very clear texture. This is barely noticeable to the naked eye, and it remains in beautiful condition, fully preserving its overall aesthetic. The bezel and case retain light scratches and small dings from its time in use. These were left as-is to ensure the original sharp case edges and form were not compromised, as we opted for a light polish rather than excessive buffing. Please enjoy this as a vintage-specific texture earned over time.
The gold medallion on the back is free of corrosion, tarnishing, or noticeable chips, and maintains an exceptionally beautiful luster for a piece of this era.
As this is an older vintage watch, it is not water-resistant. Usage in high-moisture environments (such as rainy days, while washing your face, or on hot, sweaty days) is strictly prohibited.
As it is a precision instrument, please be careful to avoid drops and strong impacts.
Additionally, please keep it away from objects that emit strong magnetic fields, such as smartphones, PCs, or the magnets in bag clasps.
Operation
Manual Winding: Turn clockwise while the crown is in the normal position.
Time Setting: Pull the crown out to the second click and turn counter-clockwise.
The second hand stops when the crown is in the second click position.
Date Quick-set: Pull the crown out to the first click and turn counter-clockwise.
Day Quick-set: Pull the crown out to the first click and turn clockwise (cycles in the order of English then Japanese).
Operating the quick-set while the watch hands are between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM will cause a malfunction.
We recommend setting the time to around 6:00 before performing any quick-set adjustments.
