商品説明

This is a Waltham De Luxe from the 1960s.

Waltham is the oldest watch brand in America, famous for its pocket watches.
The company began around 1850 and adopted the name Waltham around 1885.
In 1957, it ceased production in the United States and relocated its headquarters to Switzerland.

This particular piece is a highly attractive and striking watch that hits the "trifecta": it features a beautiful, elegant dial; a case with a strong presence; and, most importantly, a miraculous, complete set of original parts that serves as proof it has been carefully protected by its previous owners.

The dial, which immediately catches the eye, has aged beautifully, with the original silver radial finish evolving into a warm, vintage-inspired champagne gold hue.
Adorning it are the 1960s-style, three-dimensional 4-sided cut diamond & bar indices, which cast a luxurious shine (the 12 o'clock position features a prominent double-bar 4-sided cut design).

At the 12 o'clock position sits the three-dimensional Waltham W emblem, and below it, the word "DE LUXE" is proudly printed, denoting it as part of the brand's high-end line.
Furthermore, details such as the red date display and the cyclops (magnifying) lens on the interior of the crystal reflect the intricate craftsmanship of the era.

In terms of functionality, it is equipped with an "instant date change" feature that causes the calendar to switch instantly around midnight, allowing you to enjoy the high-end practical engineering of the period in your daily life.

Complementing these features is a case measuring 35.4mm in width and 43.8mm in length (including lugs), characterized by its powerful, stylish, and elongated lug design.
It has an exceptional look and fit when worn on the wrist, and the screw-back case retains a beautifully preserved medallion-style engraving that evokes a sense of tradition.

The originality of the exterior components is also worth noting.
Beyond the original crown featuring the "W" mark—which tells the story of a watch that was never subjected to excessive use—it is truly astonishing that even the original buckle with the "WALTHAM" logo remains today.

While it is possible to find replacement buckles for major brands like Omega, it is a miraculous coincidence that a buckle from a Waltham of this era, which is so often lost when replacing straps, has been passed down with the watch to this day.
The watch possesses a dignity that speaks to the care of its previous owners, making it a highly valuable piece for any collection.

Furthermore, the craftsmanship of the era lives on in the internal movement, which is invisible from the outside.
It is powered by a base Cal. 1700/01—a masterpiece ébauche from ETA, Switzerland, which was widely adopted in the 1950s and 60s—finished with a beautiful, radiant 30-jewel rose gold (pink gold-plated) coating.
With meticulous construction in both its exterior and interior, characteristic of the golden age of vintage watches, this is a luxurious piece that is sure to provide the joy of ownership.

Condition

This watch has been overhauled.

The movement remains in beautiful rose gold-plated condition with no significant signs of wear, and both the automatic winding and calendar functions (including the instant change) operate smoothly.

While the case and case back show light scratches and scuffs consistent with its age, it maintains excellent proportions without any sense of significant thinning.

The dial shows uniform discoloration due to aging (a champagne gold tone), but there are no noticeable stains or unnatural degradation, and the shine of the radial finish and the cut edges of the indices remain sharp.

As for the crystal, there is a chip on the edge at the 12 o'clock position.
This does not significantly impede visibility, and the rest of the crystal is clean; please accept this as part of the vintage character.

The included original Waltham buckle shows deterioration of the plating (peeling/discoloration) due to age.
We have included it as a valuable original accessory from the time.

Being a vintage watch from an older era, it is not water-resistant. Usage in environments with moisture (wearing it on rainy days, washing your face, or on hot days when you might sweat) is strictly prohibited.
Also, as it is a precision instrument, please be careful to avoid strong impacts such as drops, and keep it away from magnetic fields (smartphones, PCs, speakers, magnetic bag closures, etc.).

Operation

Automatic Winding: The mainspring is automatically wound by the movement of your arm while wearing it.

When wearing the watch after it has stopped, please manually wind the crown 20–30 times in the upward direction while it is in the normal position.

How to pull out the crown: Insert a fingernail between the case and the crown and pull gently.

If the crown is pulled too hard, it may come out. Please pull gently.
To prevent the crown stem from bending, please take the watch off your wrist before operating it.
Operating it gently will reduce the burden on the crown.

Manual Winding: Turn the crown in the upward direction while in the normal position.

Time Setting: Pull out the crown and turn in the downward direction.

Quick Date Change: Pull out the crown and alternate between "8:20 PM and Midnight" while in time-setting mode.

1) Move the hands forward until midnight.
If the date changes, it is midnight. If it does not, it is noon.

2) Once you have confirmed the date has changed, move the hands back to 8:20 PM.
This prepares the watch to advance the calendar for the next day.

3) Move the hands forward to midnight again.
Confirm that the date has advanced by one day.

You can advance the date one day at a time by repeating steps 1–3.

Please operate slowly to reduce the burden on the movement.
