商品説明
This is the King Seiko second model with a date display, released in 1965.
King Seiko is a series positioned at the very top alongside Seiko's flagship "Grand Seiko," and was produced until the 1970s.
The second model features the hacking function (second-hand stop mechanism), which was omitted in the first model.
Practicality was improved by adopting a screw-down case back (stainless steel models only).
While the non-date second models "44-9990" and "49999" have a robust construction with thick lugs, this date-equipped "4402-8000" model is defined by its elegant design with tapered lugs, offering a modernity that has not faded even after half a century.
This particular piece is a late-production model of the 4402-8000 (manufactured in 1967).
It is characterized by the "SEIKO medallion" on the case back.
The original dial features a sunburst finish, which has aged beautifully to a rich, champagne-gold hue. It creates elegant shadows depending on the angle of the light.
It is powered by the "Cal. 4402A" movement.
It is equipped with a hacking function (second-hand stop) and a calendar function (with quick-set).
Recommended for those looking for a practical, hand-wound vintage watch.
Condition
This watch has been overhauled.
The strap has been replaced with a brand-new, current-production Seiko strap, so you can wear it with comfort.
The crown is genuine with the "KS" engraving and operates smoothly.
The dial has aged uniformly into a beautiful champagne-gold tone, providing an excellent vintage aesthetic. There is a small dot-like mark near the 2 o'clock index and slight age-related marks along the outer edge, but they are not significant blemishes that detract from the overall atmosphere, and the condition is good considering its age.
The crystal is clean with only light scuffs.
The case has minor scratches that could not be removed during polishing, a dot-like scratch on the 10 o'clock side, and line scratches on the lugs (bottom left and right).
As this is a vintage timepiece, it is not water-resistant. Do not use it in environments where it may be exposed to water (such as on rainy days, while washing your face, or on hot, sweaty days).
As it is a precision instrument, please be careful to avoid drops and strong impacts.
Also, please keep it away from objects that emit strong magnetism, such as smartphones, PCs, or magnetic clasps on bags.
Operation
Hand-winding: Rotate upward in the normal crown position.
Time setting: Pull the crown out to the second click and rotate downward.
The second hand stops when the crown is in the second click position.
Date quick-set: Pull the crown out to the first click and rotate downward.
Performing the quick-set operation while the watch hands are between "9:00 PM and 3:00 AM" will cause damage.
We recommend setting the time to around 6:00 before using the quick-set function.
