商品説明
This is a vintage Omega watch, Ref. 165.002, manufactured around 1963.
It features a highly simple and refined design unique to this transitional period, with the dial bearing only "OMEGA AUTOMATIC", without any specific model name such as Seamaster or Geneve.
A special piece born from a "transitional period" of the collection
This Ref. 165.002 is a fascinating reference that occupies a transitional period (the 1960s), when Omega was reorganizing its model hierarchy.
Although it originated as part of the "Seamaster" line, which featured high-water-resistance cases, Omega's lineup during this time included a very diverse range of dial variations, from "non-series" models (with only the OMEGA mark) to "Seamaster," "Geneve," and even the "Seamaster Geneve" (double name) unique to this period.
The "OMEGA AUTOMATIC" only version, like this piece, is a rare variation seen during the early transitional period through the shift to the dress line.
It is a special watch with attractive characteristics unique to the transitional phase of the collection, telling the story of how Omega's lineup was reorganized at the time.
Equipped with the trusted Cal. 550 automatic movement
It is powered by the Cal. 550 (17 jewels), a non-date, full-rotor automatic caliber from the Cal. 550 series, which was a legendary movement that supported Omega's golden age of automatic watches.
Boasting the stable design and high durability inherited from the Cal. 500 series, this highly reliable movement was widely used across Omega's standard to mid-range lines.
The movement, beautifully finished in red gold plating, features a swan-neck regulator on the escapement, allowing for precise adjustment of accuracy.
Combining practicality and durability, it allows you to fully enjoy the charm of a vintage Omega.
Design and Usability
The case is made of stainless steel with a sharp impression, and the case back is a screw-back type.
The slim lugs and the fully polished mirror finish create a simple yet elegant atmosphere typical of vintage watches.
The crown is genuine Omega and features the Ω mark. It is easy to grip, allowing for smooth manual winding and time adjustment.
This watch is recommended for those looking for an attractive vintage Omega that combines a sophisticated, stripped-back design with historical significance.
Condition and Notes
This watch has been overhauled.
There are no major noticeable scratches on the crystal, and visibility is excellent.
The sunray-finished dial has aged to a beautiful champagne-gold color, allowing you to enjoy the unique patina of a vintage watch.
The "SWISS" marking remains on the edge of the dial at the 6 o'clock position (please check the macro images, as it is easily hidden by the edge of the crystal due to the construction).
Regarding the hands, there is some minor peeling on the black paint of the hour hand, but this does not detract from the overall aesthetic.
The strap has been replaced with a brand new leather strap, so you can wear it with comfort.
The crown is original with the Ω mark and operates smoothly.
Notes on Purchase
As this is a vintage watch, it is not waterproof.
Avoid use in environments with moisture (such as on rainy days, while washing your face, or on hot, sweaty days).
As it is a precision instrument, please be careful of drops and strong impacts.
Also, please keep it away from strong magnetic fields, such as those from smartphones, PCs, or magnets on bag clasps.
Operation Instructions
Pulling the crown: Insert your fingernail between the case and the crown and pull it out gently.
Pulling the crown too hard may cause it to come out; please pull it gently.
To prevent the crown stem from bending, please take the watch off your wrist before operating it.
Operating it gently will reduce the burden on the crown.
Manual Winding: Turn clockwise while the crown is in its normal position.
Time Adjustment: Pull out the crown and turn counter-clockwise.
This model does not have a hacking function; the second hand does not stop.
