This is a rare early-model "Lord Marvel" from 1960.
The early-model dial features an elaborate finish with an engraved logo.
The Lord Marvel, which began production in May 1958, was the top-tier model developed by upgrading the Marvel for higher precision.
The movement jewel count was increased from 17 to 23 jewels.
The movement also features meticulous finishes, such as engraved, mirror-polished ratchet wheels and polished screws.
These techniques were all inherited by the Grand Seiko, which began production in 1960.
The dial is a high-grade version known as an "SD dial," with indices made of solid 18K or 14K gold.
The sun-like mark at the 6 o'clock position signifies the SD dial, and its elegant luster remains intact today.
The case is 14K gold-filled.
The case back features the rounded shape characteristic of early models.
The lugs are long and mirror-polished.
The design creates a smart, vertical silhouette.
With the dial and crown in good condition, specimens featuring the original S-marked crown have become extremely rare.
It is highly recommended for collectors.
Operation
Manual Winding: Rotate upward while the crown is in the normal position.
It is easiest to wind by sliding the crown between the side of your index finger and your thumb.
How to pull the crown: Gently pull it out by inserting your fingernail between the case and the crown.
Pulling the crown too forcefully may cause it to come off; please pull it out gently.
To prevent bending the crown, please remove the watch from your wrist before operating it.
Operating it gently helps reduce strain on the crown.
Time Setting: Pull the crown out and rotate it downward.
The second hand does not hack (stop).
Condition
This watch has been fully serviced (overhauled) and externally polished.
The crown is an authentic part with the S mark.
There is some aging and spotting on the dial.
The case has scuffs, minor scratches, and a linear scratch on the upper left lug.
This watch is not waterproof.
Please avoid wearing it on rainy or hot days.
Also, please be careful of impacts and magnetism.
