Seiko Cronos Special 15033 Gold-filled Cal. 810 23 Jewels Manual Wind, Serviced, Made in 1963 (Showa 38)

This is a Seiko Cronos Special from 1963.

The Seiko Cronos was developed as a model to surpass the Marvel (produced at the Suwa factory), which had achieved overwhelming sales success.
Its design was unique to the Kameido factory, and its basic structure and bridge shapes were later inherited by the King Seiko.

The Cronos Special is a high-end model based on a minor update of the King Seiko 1st, released in 1961.
It is known as a highly rare model due to its short production period and limited circulation.

The movement is based on the King Seiko (J14102E).
It features the same balance wheel beat adjuster as the King Seiko, reflecting its high-grade finish.
A major visual characteristic is the balance bridge, which uses the "C-curve" found in the King Seiko rather than the "S-curve" of the standard Cronos.

The dial features a sunburst finish, creating beautiful shadows depending on the angle of light.
Over time, it has aged to a color approaching champagne gold, offering the wonderful atmosphere unique to antique timepieces.
The script logo at the 12 o'clock position exudes an antique elegance.
The 6 o'clock side is engraved with "Diashock 23jewels" and the AD dial mark (indicating a high-end specification with gold-plated brass).
Despite its simple three-hand layout, the combination with bold dauphine hands creates a design with strong presence.

The case is 80-micron gold-filled (ALL GOLD FILLED).
Because the gold layer is thicker than standard gold plating, it is highly resistant to wear, allowing you to use it for many years to come.

The crown is original to the period and features the S-mark.

With a case diameter of 35.9mm and a thickness of 9.5mm, it has a comfortable fit and is perfect for those seeking an elegant antique watch.

Condition

This watch has been overhauled.

The strap has been replaced with a new (genuine) one, so it is ready for comfortable use.

The dial has light surface scratches between the 6 and 8 o'clock positions, but overall visibility remains good.
The case shows minor scratches, and the bottom-left lug is slightly bent inward, though this does not affect wearability.
The crown shows some wear from age, but winding operation is smooth.
The crystal has fine scratches that could not be polished out, but its clarity is well-maintained.

As this is an old timepiece, it is not waterproof. Do not use it in environments exposed to moisture (such as on rainy days, while washing your face, or on hot days when sweating).
Also, as it is a precision machine, please be very careful to avoid strong impacts such as drops, and keep it away from magnetic fields (smartphones, PCs, speakers, magnets in bags, etc.).

Operation Instructions

Manual Winding: Rotate clockwise while the crown is in the normal position.

To wind the mainspring, please turn the crown clockwise slowly and carefully.
The crown will feel light at the start of winding, but it will become heavier as the mainspring tightens.
Please be aware that with hand-wound watches, forcing the crown to turn once it has reached its limit will break the mainspring.

How to pull out the crown: Use your fingernail to gently pull the crown out from the case.

If you pull the crown too hard, it may come out entirely. Please pull it out gently.
To prevent bending the crown, please remove the watch from your wrist before operating it.
Operating it gently will reduce strain on the crown.
