商品説明
This is a Seiko Goldfeather manufactured in 1962.
Feather means a plume or bird's feather.
The Goldfeather was developed with the aim of creating a "watch as light as a feather."
It features a completely new movement design, created to compete with the Citizen Deluxe, which became a huge hit by positioning itself as the "thinnest top-tier domestic model in Japan."
In standard center-second movements, it is difficult to reduce the thickness because the gears overlap in the center (due to the coaxial alignment of the gears for the minute and second hands).
The Goldfeather employs a new design that offsets the gears from the center.
By avoiding gear overlap, it achieves a thin movement thickness of 2.95mm.
The total thickness including the case and crystal is just 8.0mm (case diameter 34.8mm), offering a light, glove-like fit on the wrist.
The case is 14K Gold Filled. The case back is a snap-back type.
14K gold filling is several to dozens of times thicker than plating, providing excellent durability that prevents the base metal from being exposed during daily use.
The "Goldfeather" logo and "14K GOLD FILLED" engraving on the case back remain very clear.
The dial features a sunburst finish that radiates a delicate luster.
The indices are grooved as if carved with a chisel, a highly intricate design that provides both depth and visibility despite the ultra-thin profile.
Recommended for those looking for a slim and elegant vintage watch.
Condition
This watch has been overhauled.
The strap has been replaced with a brand-new one (Seiko genuine), so it is ready for comfortable wear.
As the lugs are thin, it is recommended not to tighten the strap too much to avoid putting stress on the lugs while wearing.
The crown operates smoothly.
The dial has aged to a color close to champagne gold, exuding the warmth and sense of luxury unique to a vintage timepiece. There are no noticeable spots or stains, and it maintains excellent condition that does not compromise its overall beauty. The case also has no peeling of the gold fill (no worn corners) or noticeable dings, and the original edges remain clean. The crystal has very fine scratches that could not be removed by polishing.
It is built with low water resistance and is non-waterproof.
Use in humid environments (rainy days, washing your face, wearing on hot, sweaty days, etc.) is strictly prohibited.
As this is a precision instrument, please be careful of drops and strong shocks. Also, keep it away from objects that emit strong magnetism, such as smartphones, PCs, and magnetic bag clasps.
Operation Method
Manual winding: With the crown in the normal position, rotate it clockwise.
To wind the mainspring, please turn the crown clockwise slowly and carefully.
The crown will become harder to turn as it reaches full wind.
Please be careful; if you continue to wind a manual watch forcefully after it has reached its limit, the mainspring may snap.
Pulling the crown: Insert a fingernail between the case and the crown, and move it like a lever.
Please remove the watch from your wrist before operating.
Handling it gently reduces stress on the crown.
Time setting: Pull the crown out and rotate it counter-clockwise.
The second hand does not stop.
[One-point advice for operation]
When pushing the crown back in after setting the time, the slight twist of your finger may cause the crown to rotate, slightly shifting the minute hand. The trick is to push it in gently "perpendicular to the case" to avoid adding rotation, but this takes a little practice. It is also recommended to set the hands slightly ahead to compensate for the anticipated shift.
